CPB Peer Reflection #2

Marley: Very mixed in online vs hard copy CPB. So with this in mind, you could easily do the first option with McKinney to show your development throughout the semester with your designs and formats. Show the first one being short and personally being related. Then move on to having one of the examples of your hardcover CPB entries and finish with one of your online entries to show that you had a mix of entry formats. Another point for your own reflection you could bring up is the fact that you discuss things in the beginning and then at the end you ask questions that would be a good lead into further research if that is something you would be interested in. You definitely make an effort to include a picture or video and that is a common pattern shown throughout your CPB that is evident. I like that you did not necessarily stick to one type, format, or topic (with varying novels) because it shows that each entry brought a new idea or expression out of you and what we were reading to give a kind of new experience to someone that is following along with your CPB.

What would you change if you could go back and redo this project? Would you do mixed media or stick to one or the other? What do you think your best development of the whole project was?

Kai: The format is very clean and relatively consistent which is nice to see. You make sure to have an image, one quote from the novel we were reading, and then a quote from an outside source. I think it may have been a little more helpful for you to talk a little bit more about what those meant, the connection, and the reasoning behind choosing them. But, I mean if you understand what they represent and understand how they connect I guess that is all that matters as it is your CPB. It was even mentioned at the beginning of the semester that the CPB is to help us understand what is going on in the novel not necessarily other people when they look at our CPB. I feel like your CPB #8 may have been one of your favorites because it is evident that you put a significant amount of time and thought into it. You wanted to understand more than before what exactly The Beetle was. This could be one that you look into further as you dig into the late Victorian anxieties and how they were often connected to other monster books set in the area.

What was your favorite entry and why? If you would look more into late Victorian anxieties what would you specifically focus on? Just monster representations of the anxieties or how those representations actually impacted the culture and construct of the era?
