Draft:

Jessica Rothenheber said, “Coming to UNE is like coming home.” She has moved around through many states over the past few years after finishing grad school. She knew that she did not want to stay away from Maine forever. So, the job opportunity of being an Assistant Director of Student Engagement arose here at the University of New England in Maine.

It may have been she wanted a big reason to come back to Maine to live. But, the real reason Jessica chose to work here at the University is because of the students. “What drew me to UNE was the students, you all are go-getters and thoughtful.”

She is someone that is happy with how her college experience went. So she wants to make sure that future students also come out of college feeling happy and proud of their choices. She is happy to work with students that are excelling because they have so much energy and are happy with their college life. But, Jessica really likes to find the students that are struggling because she wants to be able to mentor them to be able to get out of a rut and actually be happy they went to college and be content with what choices they made. She said, “I prefer working with students who struggle its why I got into higher education. I want them to leave with having a positive experience.”

Jessica does not want to stop here at UNE she is hoping to go back to school to get her EDD Masters to be Dean of Students or go to law school to be Risk Manager of an institution. “I don’t want to hit the top of my career before I’m thirty,” she said when I asked her if she sees herself retiring at UNE.

Notes: I plan to talk more about her schooling because there are some mentors that she talked about that helped shape her into who she is today, how she sees herself, and I plan on getting some quotes from a few faculty members that she works with.
