Journal #10

There are some big takeaways that I got from reading through this chapter about step four of the proposal and grant writing process. The goals and objectives will let the funders know whether or not the program was successful in the end. There is a difference between goals and objectives; goals revolve around what is achievable/ essentially what is to be accomplished and objectives are the expected changes to be seen. Another thing that was rather evident in this chapter was the meanings behind terms. This section talks about how different funders and organizations have different definitions for the same word; this is why it is important to ask for clarity to ensure that your organization is effectively communicating what they are asking for. I really like the idea of following SMART when creating a program to ensure the majority of what is required is met. When looking at objectives it is more important to focus on the actual outcomes vs. how to get to the outcome, as that is the main point of objectives. I think one of the last important notes to make apparent is that the goals and objectives must tie back to the statement problem to ensure that everything makes sense and is relevant.
