CNN’s Jim Acosta Talks Current State of Journalism, New Book at Point Park

CNN Journalist, Jim Acosta, talks about how hard it is being a journalist today. Especially a journalist who is in the political department and used to cover President Obama and Trump in the White House. Acosta has had his press badge taken away, which gives him access to the White House premises, due to “fake news.” So he goes to Trump rallies and conferences to get information.

Acosta mentions how journalists have people screaming and threatening them for “misreporting the news.” Acosta is one journalist who personally has bodyguards to protect him from crazy protestors. He fears that if a journalist would be killed or injured the United States would not be the same as it used to be. Ralph Rossi, an audience member, agrees that today’s journalists are under attack and the nation does not realize how important free press is. At the end of the interview, Acosta hopes that people can be civil and we can all have the same humility as Mr. Rogers.
