“SCG Planning Events to Celebrate Black History Month“
The Student Government held a meeting this past Tuesday, February 5, 2020. During the meeting, they talked about a few key topics that have been going on around campus. One of the first things that were discussed were the events being planned for Black History Month. Most of which will take place alongside other organizations and in the dining hall. Another topic that was addressed was the naming of independent organizations at the University of Pitt. The organizations are not allowed to have the words “Pitt” or “Panthers” in the name of the clubs. So, they are trying to find loopholes around the predicament and are emailing the Dean of Students about the situation. Among the other topics discussed they talked about a law being passed for uber drivers to have more requirements so the service is safer for students. Most of the other information talked about was about smaller upcoming events and a Diversity and Inclusion mixer.
