Faculty Assembly Prepares for Possible Pittsburgh Pandemic

As said in previous articles, the University is keeping everyone updating on what they are doing concerning the Coronavirus. The University is operating under high alerts which resulted in the faculty meeting on March 4. Although there have been no cases in Pennsylvania the university knows it is a matter of time before it reaches them.


The university has canceled all Spring Break international travel plans and has reached out to students studying abroad. Due to the cancellations, students are going to be refunded for the money they put into the Spring Break trips. The clubs are not under strict orders due to the university rules. However, they are suggesting the clubs refrain from travel if they can. If cases are reported within the area of the college; a campus-wide distancing phase will be in effect. The University says that if they find a case at the college the Allegheny Health Department will help get COVID-19 testing kits.

The University of Pitt has had a pandemic preparedness plan in the backwaters since the avian flu broke out. Along with various other medical outbreaks that have risen over the years. The university has created a website to keep people specifically updated concerning the disease. At the end of the article, it lists ways to help keep further spreading of the virus low.
