Journal #6

It is time to figure out what organization my group wants to represent for the semester. We decided that we would all do a little searching for Maine organizations that involve climate change education, initiatives, and aid for Maine communities. I was able to find three potential options; The climate initiative, York Ready for Climate Action, and Maine Environmental Education Association. After I provided my options to the group they gave their input and thought one of mine would be a great option. Abbie actually mentioned she was also looking into the one we were discussing which was a great coincidence. So, when it was all said and done we decided to go with the York Ready for Climate Action organization for a few reasons. Not only is it environmental driven specifically climate change (which is what we wanted). It focuses on smaller communities which we feel is important to focus on especially ones that are not in the highest of income communities. We also feel that it would be easier to gather a list of grants that would be more accepting of this organization than the other organizations we were considering. I think because we live within the area we are able to have a closer connection with the organization which will help us in looking for grants as well.
