This Commonplace book entry entails the decision Victor and the Captain take when choosing science and discovery over their family. It shows that they would prefer to be alone to seek and find what they are looking for than to do it with family and friends. But they still have the option of going back to family and friends which is what both individuals chose to do in the end especially after Victor had told the Walton of the Monster he created.
