After scrolling through the eportfolios I landed on Kim’s and Paige’s common place book entries.
Kim talked about the introduction of Bertha and showcased an image of the girls surrounding her as she sits in the chair. I like how she highlighted the mentally ill perspective that was a rather new open perspective during this time still came with a lot of hesitation. It really helps shine a light on how even though some struggles are not external it sometimes feel as though they are because of how quickly people turn their nose from someone who is mentally struggling. This piece she chose really just resignated with me because my mom has some mental ill issues and she struggles to get through them and how some people may be disrespectfuly towards her because of her hardships.
Paige focused on talking about all the bad omens that have happened to Jane under the tree after her engagement. I think this is definitely forshadowing what is to come. However, I think Jane will be able to get through it because she has been able to get through the challenges of growing up and getting out the environments that have effected her negatively.
After reading through these chapters and entries it makes me wonder even more where Jane is going to go with life and how she decides to act in stressful situations.
