Entry #6

Reading through this article makes me actually look at this whole scenario from a different perspective. What if it isn’t that they are necessarily mostrious because they are bad, deformed (malformed), or evil, but because they have the brains of babies.

“They may not be able to articulate it, but they definitely understand the mood in a room, and they can sense the emotions” that come from others around them (Williams). Which leads to the concept that when they are traumatized they react more strongly than an older more knowledgable person would. “Traumatic experiences can initiate strong emotions and physical reactions that can persist long after the event” (NCTSN).

I think that if someone actually worked with Hyde and accepted him he would be able to kind of gain morals and behavioral necessities that are kind of required to live a relatively normal life. Take the Hulk for example the article mentions how he is a modern day Jekyll and Hyde situation. Once Dr. Banner actually worked with him and Natasha was able to get close enough to where the Hulk knew she was a safe person they were able to grow a connection. Not only that but Dr. Banner managed to actually get to a point where he was always the Hulk but he still had his own consious. Just like Frankenstein when he was created he didn’t know how to read or write or anything at that matter. But, from watching the family in the woods and interacting with people he learned and his mind aged essentially.

I think this quote right here perfectly explains what I am talking about. “Thenceforward, he sat all day over the fire in the private room, gnawing his nails; there he dined, sitting alone with his fears, the waiter visibly quailing before his eye; and thence, when the night was fully come, he set forth in the corner of a closed cab, and was driven to and fro about the streets of the city” (Stevenson, 90). Mr. Hyde didn’t know what to do, where to go, who he could trust, the only thing he consistently did was think in fear of what society would do to him because they didn’t know and he didn’t know; like a child that has been traumatized.

Mr. Hyde’s brain even though he is considered a monster he truly just doesn’t know right from wrong and the proper way to be because no one will even try to help teach him.
