Many people go to higher schooling wanting to further their knowledge and life. Most of those many people do not think about some of the everyday struggles they face when it comes to going to college. One struggle that may come to as a surprise is finding a spot to park. There are only so many parking spots that can be open for residents, faculty, and commuters of the University. So, the question is who decides how the parking lots are set up and how they operate? How does this impact the students and faculty that actually have to park in the designated parking lots?

UNE is one school that has what seems like enough parking spaces for all of the commuters, faculty, and residents. Yet, there are many students and faculty that say parking is a nightmare. There are roughly 15 parking lots on campus for people that come to UNE to park. But each parking lot is restricted to a certain type of person that plans on parking here. That means residents, people who live on campus, have seven parking lots that they are allowed to park at all times. Commuters have their designated areas to park which is more than residents have because there tend to be more commuters than residents. Due to the fact that there are not only undergraduates, there are also graduates going to classes in the ACHS.

Commuting students are sometimes running late because they cannot find a parking spot. Depending on the professor those students have; they may be unhappy with students coming in 5-10 minutes late to class. Not to mention the work the students are missing during that time they may not be able to get because of trying to find a parking spot.
