Fossil Free Kicks Off Cathedral Sit-in Demanding Vote on Divestment”

The students are back at it again, trying to stop the University from continuing their endowment into the fossil fuel industries. The participants partake in the peaceful protest in the Cathedral of Learning’s lobby. The University has been investing fossil fuels since 2014 and the students are pressuring the School Board of Trustees to vote on a decision for the following years.  Protestors are continuing their stance until a vote is made or have some type of response from the Board. The students are hoping others will join them in the protest to push for an answer. Not only is the Board still not going to have a vote on the dispute they are planning on setting up another committee that talks about the issues of fossil fuels. The students want to make it clear they are not disrupting the student conduct code by protesting and they do not want to escalate the action they are currently taking. The protestors merely want to put as much peaceful pressure on the Board of Trustees as possible.
